Relationship Institute Australasia is the longest-serving provider of accredited Gottman Couple Therapy in Australia. We have been providing training throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia since 2013 to over 2,000 professional clinicians across psychology, social work and counselling.

Our principal trainers, Trish Purnell-Webb and John Flanagan, were the first professionals in Australia to become Advanced Clinical Trainers and Consultants for the Gottman Institute, and offer an exceptional depth of experience and knowledge unequalled in this country.

Over several years of working together and refining their thinking and knowledge about what works and what doesn’t work in helping couples, they conceived the idea of Relationship Institute Australasia.

Working together since 2005, Trish and John have built a strong community of skilled and professional couple therapists who provide a supportive network across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. They have also developed a team of trainers who are highly skilled and allow us to offer more training both online and in person, not only in Gottman Couple Therapy but also in areas that require more specialised skills, such as:

Recovering from betrayal;

Working with individuals who present with couple problems;
Deepening couple assessment, formulation and treatment planning; and,
Masterclasses in the specific delivery of Gottman interventions and pluralistic approaches of modality blending.

Our mission is to provide practical, evidence-based therapeutic approaches and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to clinicians who work in the complex and important area of helping couples build, repair and rejuvenate strong, sustainable relationships.
